The Gateway to Bangalore

Designed as a composition of transparent glazed and solid granite cubes, the hotel is designed to be the gateway to Bangalore, since this is the first building – apart from the airport terminal itself – that travelers would encounter when they visit the city. This hotel is designed for transit, business and family travelers.

Bengaluru’s first airport hotel

The Taj Hotel at Kempegowda International Airport is a 154 key hotel located adjacent to the airport terminal. This Hotel features conference facilities that include a 9000sqft Ballroom along with 20,000sqft of Meeting rooms. Additionally 12,000sft of F&B areas includes a main restaurant, an Indian restaurant, a Pan Asian restaurant and a lounge bar. In addition, the hotel features retail areas, as well as lounges for the use of flight crews and hotel guests. A Spa facility and swimming pool caters to the leisure component of the hotel.

Lego-like design

The central design principle has been to utilise the facade to the maximum and allow light into each guest room, while not letting a corporate building take over the look. The result of this process is a facade that refuses to settle down into a rectangular box.

The built mass of the hotel is conceived as a set of linear towers composed of glazed cuboids of varying shapes and heights, to create a simple geometric arrangement that would leave an impression on any traveler arriving or departing from the airport. The dynamic massing of the glazed cuboids is anchored by heavy stone relief walls at the ends of each tower, along with a stone clad podium block that houses the hotel

A window for every toilet

Not only the guest rooms, but even the toilets have windows. The scheme opts for a bold design which allows spacious toilets filled with light via acoustic-treated glass on 3.6m x 2.4m windows, areas that exude a feeling of space and a fantastic guest experience.

Planning the space

The lobby is central to the design and has glazing on both ends. The vast 10.5 metre lobby height provides a long visual range and gives the feeling of endless space. The double-height design concept moves on to other areas in the hotel such as restaurants.

Filled with amenities

The Hotel is designed to fulfil a range of needs and has several amenities; a roof-top pool, a vast banquet hall, multiple restaurants and club facilities are among a few.
